Emily E Yen is an interdisciplinary artist who predominantly works with drawing, printmaking, and installation to explore themes of absence and presence as they relate to her metaphorical states and physical places of being. She reflects on her life experiences and investigates how one may endure and adapt to the unexpected and inevitable changes to place and self. She develops her works intuitively, allowing her memories and feelings to drive her imagery which is left purposefully open ended to allow viewers the opportunity to relate.
Yen completed her Bachelors of Science in both Studio Art and Digital Media with a concentration in graphic design at Marist College. During that time she also studied and exhibited her work in Venice, Italy. She is currently pursuing her MFA at Stony Brook University where she is also an Instructor of Record for a Foundations Drawing course.
